New England Patriots
The New England Patriots were formed in 1959 as the Boston Patriots of the AFL before changing to New England in 1971, one year after the NFL-AFL merger.
The Patriots are synonymous with three words in the NFL: Brady, Belichick and dynasty.
About The team
Former quarterback Tom Brady is widely regarded as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) with six Super Bowl rings as a member of the Patriots between 2001-2018. Current head coach Bill Belichick, who was the architect for that successful run, is now the lone key member of a rebuilding team.
In all, the team has played in a record 11 Super Bowls, winning six and losing five. Currently, there are three members in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and both Brady and Belichick are locks to join them when their careers are over.
Going to Boston ?
The Boston area is rich in history from the pilgrims landing at nearby Plymouth Rock in the 1600’s to the Boston Tea Party and American Revolution in 1700’s to the arrival of the Irish immigrants in the 1800’s.
The city also boasts a rich sports history with the MLB’s Red Sox (1901), NHL’s Bruins (1924), and NBA’s Celtics (1946) having won 32 championships, including 12 since 2001. Venerable Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox, is a place every sports fan should tour.
If you’re looking for some pub fare before or after the game, the first stop has to be Cheers, the bar that was featured in the 1980’s comedy of the same name. Of course, any stay in Boston also requires some clam chowder at the Boston Chowda Co.
On top of all the historical places to visit in Boston, the city is also home to two of the finest universities in the world in Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
